2024 Fall Family Campout

Camp Staff

Each station ideally needs two adults to run, so that we can have an older scout assist. If you’re willing to help with skits for flag/campfire as adult staff also please indicate.

Tasks: Verify YPT and Health Forms are signed. Check off those who are expected to arrive.

Medical Support

Tasks: Know where the Red Book/Medical Forms (aka Big Book of Boo-Boos) are. Know where first aid kit is. Be willing to be a first/early responder to medical emergency.

Station #1: Walking Stick Customization/Walking Buddy

Tasks: Using wood burner or paint markers to write initials onto walking sticks. Cutting and helping to apply grip tape to the handle. The other adult will lead the ones waiting their turn into making Walking Stick buddies, customizing a paper roll that can sit on top of the walking stick.

Station #2: Cave

Tasks: Animal Identification, help guide scouts through the cave to find animal cut outs. Discuss the ‘rule of thumb’. Holding your hand extended with your thumb out, if your thumb doesn’t cover the animal you are too close. Discuss which animals they may encounter in Texas.

Scout Laws:

Kind – Be kind not only to others, but also animals. We shouldn’t chase or yell at animals.

Station #3: Fort

Tasks: Ranger rescue mission. Guide a blindfolded scout through a series of obstacles. Must work together as a team to guide to a finish line. Will repeat with as much time as allowed.

Station #4: Pirate Ship

Tasks: Create a map of the area, it doesn’t have to be to scale but should be understandable by the scouts. Discuss navigation and how maps are useful.

Tasks: If fire is allowed, need to build the fire before sunset and light it when it’s time. Also need an adult to lead a skit and discuss being Brave/Cheerful.
