Pack 620 Cub-O Info:
Looks like we will have nice weather for the Cub-O orienteering event next weekend. For those camping the forecasted low is only 45F and will warm up to the mid 60’s on Saturday. If you are attending for the day, please plan on arriving at the Pack’s campsite by 9AM on Saturday so we can divide into teams and check in for the event.

Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, Boy Scout Rd, Bridgeport, TX 76426
Once you arrive at camp the drive to the main camp area 20-30 min from the entrance. Remember to DRIVE SLOWLY and watch for Scouts. Do not park in campsites. Unload your gear and move your vehicle to a parking area.

What to Bring:
- Medical Forms for each attendee (must be turned in at check in)
- Adults Must have completed YPT Training Before the Event, Bring a Copy of your certificate if not a registered pack leader. Training can be completed at scouting.org

Food: For those camping menu is listed below, and we will cook together for all the dens. If you are attending for the day only, please bring snacks for the trail.
- Friday Evening Snack: Cracker Barrel (cheese, sausage, and crackers)
- Saturday Breakfast: Breakfast Tacos
- Saturday Lunch: Sandwiches and Chips
- Saturday Dinner: Homemade Chili and Hot Dogs
- Sunday Breakfast: Rachel’s Cinnamon Rolls
Teams: We will divide the pack into multiple teams and try to keep dens together. Please be thinking of a cool team name for your group. Suggested Teams Lion/Tigers, Bears, Wolf/Webelos, and AOL.
Objective and Rules: Using a map and compass teams navigate to find up to 42 marked controls and score points. The goal is to score as many points as possible in 3 hours. Controls are assigned different values based on their difficulty and range from 5 to 30 points.
- This is a team event. All participants must register.
- The minimum team size is 3. The Maximum team size is 8. Each team must have a minimum of TWO registered adults. Larger groups must be split into smaller teams.
- All team members must START together, STAY together, and FINISH together.
- All team members must be present at the Start line. No early starts.
- This is a timed event; all teams will be given specific start times.
- All participants MUST CHECK IN at Finish. Failure to do so results in disqualification.
- Teams have 3 hours to score as many points as possible.
- Controls can be visited in any order.
- Control point values vary as specified on the score sheet. Points are scored by locating the control and punching the matching number on the score card. Punches must be contained within the numbered square that matches the number on the control or no points will be awarded.
- All team members must be present at the Finish line. Finishing time is recorded after ALL team members have crossed the finish line (including Adult Leaders).
- Crossing the finish line after the specified Finish Time will result in points being deducted for each minute past the time limit. The penalty is -5 points per minute or fraction thereof.
- All teams must report to the Finish Line even if finishing very early or very late. Do not return to your campsite or leave camp property without checking in.
- There is an automatic 30 minute penalty for failing to check in and get a finish time.
- Do not enter out of bounds areas marked on the map.
- Follow all safety and event instructions provided in registration packets and in the event training sessions prior to the event start.
- Tampering with the course, control markers, interfering with other teams, disrespect for camp or personal property, disrespect for wildlife, or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.
- Teams may not collaborate or share information with other teams except for safety or medical emergencies. Teams are expected to help others in emergency situations. Adult Leaders should focus on ensuring the safety of their group.
- The Following classes are in effect (as of 2023):
- Lion/Tiger Cubs (K-1)
- Wolf (2nd Grade)
- Bear (3rd Gr)
- Webelos (Webelos I & AOL) (4th-5th Gr)
- Adult (18-up)
- The use of GPS, smartphones, tablets, pedometers, altimeters, rangefinders, or any other electronic device as a navigational aid is not allowed. Phones should be carried in case of emergency.
- Awards will be presented to the teams with the highest net scores in each class and to the units with the highest average scores (average of all youth team scores in a unit). In case of a tie the earliest finish time wins.
- Reasons for disqualification
- Teams that do not check in at Finish
- Teams with net scores less than zero
- Tampering with control markers
